Attention all home remodelers and interior designers: the Philadelphia Home Show opens tomorrow at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Whether you are looking to remodel your kitchen or just add some flair to your living room, the show’s nearly 300 exhibitors will inspire and guide you.
New this year is the Green Zone, an area that seeks to educate homeowners about products that are both energy-saving and eco-friendly. Green companies, including Tupperware, Global Home Improvement, and Better Homes, will show off new products and services to homeowners who want to make their homes as "green" as possible.
"We wanted to highlight energy saving throughout the show," said Alyson Caplan, Philadelphia Home Show manager. "Many new green companies are on the map, and through their exhibits attendees can look around to see what they can do at home to be more eco-friendly."
This year’s Home Show will entertain as well as educate. Visitors can enter several contests, including a chance to win a complete kitchen makeover and a green back yard makeover. Or they can play ABC’s "Extreme Home Makeover" host Ty Pennington’s scavenger hunt – if you are able to find all the Ty endorsed products at the show you’ll be entered to win a Howard Miller Floor Clock.
Designer rooms have returned this year, and along with spaces designed by local celebrities such as Fox 29’s Kerri Lee Halkett, comes the "man cave," a room designed to appeal to Philly’s hardcore sports fans. Designed by Barbara Klazmer-Eiseman and sponsored by Comcast SportsNet, this room will feature a 58-inch high-definition television, leather seating alongside seats from the Spectrum and sports memorabilia from the Flyers, Sixers, Eagles and Phillies. Ricky Bottalico, former Phillies pitcher and current Comcast SportsNet Phillies analyst, will sign autographs at the man cave from flights from Canberra to Armidale noon to 1 p.m. on Sunday while …continue reading
